The Rural Mensa Program of Mensa India headed by Mr. Subhash Deshpande of Mensa India in the 1990s inspired ecologist Dr. Narayan R. Desai to conceptualize and start The Tribal Mensa Nurturing Program. After 15 years, by July 2015, the program has screened 15483 students through 442 intelligence test sessions in 6 states and identified 676 gifted children.
